About the Project
This project will provide financial support to the Australian Prawn Farmer's Association (APFA) to ensure that APFA members work collaboratively to implement research and development results delivered through the Cooperative Research Centre.
The major focus of the project is to establish on going systems and mechanisms to fill this gap and in so doing provide valuable information to other participants regarding ways to achieve business outcomes through the research and development conducted by the Cooperative Research Centre. The project officer will also provide support to the CRC funded benchmarking project that is already producing useful information requiring dissemination to and consideration by the APFA members.
Project Objectives
1. Developing an effective mechanism to commercialise the prawn genetics research and development.
2. Establishing the mechanisms to implement the results from the initial benchmarking project and any subsequent projects that arise from it relating to adding market value to Australian farmed prawns.

About the Project
This project will provide the resources to ensure that the outcomes of the research and development are adopted and commercialised quickly and extensively throughout the Australian oyster industry. Without this coordination it would be very difficult to achieve the change at the extent and rate necessary to achieve the growth targets for the industry.
Project Objectives
1. Manage a national strategic approach to oyster research and development.
2. Manage project development on a state by state basis.
3. Manage and implement a communication plan to ensure research results are rapidly and widely adopted.
4. To establish and maintain collaboration within projects for the oyster industry.
5. Represent the Oyster Consortium at Seafood CRC core participant meetings.

Australian Abalone Industry Research and Development Planning, Implementation and Extension

About the Project
This project will enable the abalone industry to better be able to work collaboratively and impove the quality of products supplied to the market and to maintain market share in major exports.
Project Objectives
1. To coordinate the planning, implementation and reporting of research and development projects conducted by the Seafood CRC to achieve the outcomes specified in the Australia Abalone Council's strategic plan.
2. To facilitate the abalone industry participation in CRC projects and the extension and utilisation of the project results, participation in relation to a national product integrity.
3. To establish by December 2010, a mechanism by which the Australian Abalone Council can fund its own research and development communication coordination.
