Research and Adoption Committee The "RAC" The Research and Adoption Committee (RAC) provides advice to the Managing Director on matters relating to implementation of research and adoption and to assist in the development of high quality projects. It is not an approval or governance committee. The RAC guides the development and management of the Cooperative Research Centre's programs and projects to ensure they meet end-user needs, provide recommendations to the Managing Director on how projects and programs can be improved to better meet the Centre's outcomes and end-user needs, monitor and evaluate program performance to ensure they meet the Cooperative Research Centre's objectives and provide feedback to Program Leaders on the performance of their programs. The RAC is also a forum for the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation to provide technical input into projects and to advise on likely level of co-investment by the Fisheries Research and Development in each project. Dr Geoff Allan (Chair) Geoff has over twenty years experience in aquaculture and fish biology and in fish and aquaculture research. Geoff also has substantial experience in leading aquaculture and research programs. Geoff is currently the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries' Aquaculture Leader and the Centre Director of the Port Stephens Fisheries Centre. He has other professional appointments such as program consulting, is an Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research Project Leader, Cooperative Research Centre for the Sustainable Aquaculture of Finfish Project Leader, Aquaculture Without Frontiers Director and is the Chairman of the New South Wales Fisheries Animal Care and Ethics Committee. _________________________________________________ |

Pheroze Jungwalla (Alternate Chair) Pheroze is the Executive Officer of the Tasmanian Salmonid Growers' Association, located in Hobart, Tasmania. This is a body that represents all Tasmanian salmon growers. The Association acts on issues on behalf of the industry such as opposing the decision by the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service to allow imports of uncooked salmon meat in to Australia as well as dealing with any trade issues. _________________________________________________ |

Crispian Ashby Crispian joined the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation in February 2002 as a Project Manager before taking over as Program Manager in June 2005. Formerly with Victoria's Marine and Freshwater Reseources Institute as a Senior Field Scientist, Crispian has worked with industry on various Fisheries Research ande Development Corporation projects assessing bycatch reduction measures in the south east trawl fishery. Prior to this, Crispian worked with the New South Wales Fisheries on bycatch issues in the south east trawl, estuarine prawn and finfish haul fisheries. _________________________________________________ |

Richard Stevens Richard Stevens is the Research & Business Improvement Manager for the Western Australian Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC). WAFIC is the only fishing industry organisation of its kind to have an active and permanent research and development program which Richard is responsible for keeping on track. Established in 1993, the research and development program exists to help people in the industry with their own research efforts, and particularly to find grants that will help spread the risks involved in applied research.
